The Lime Light: Jay-Z Hits the Road Again

2009+BET+Awards+Show+8YrZscXAP91lBy Melva N. Lloyd

In light of stellar album sales and constant rotation of his videos for “D.O.A” and “Run This Town” Jay-Z will set out on a national tour starting October 9th with N.E.R.D., Wale and his protege J. Cole.  The 24-date tour will make stops at college campuses and arenas spanning from Kentucky to Montreal.

J. Cole, who is just 24 years old, is the first signee to Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation record label, and he appeared on the almost platinum Blueprint 3; penning lyrics to “A Star is Born”.  This is the North Carolina native’s first taste of life on the road but not his last.  VMA house band leader Wale and the rapping/singing/producing trio that is N.E.R.D. are no strangers to the limelight.  Wale’s single, “Nike Boots” ushered him into the mainstream airwaves while Pharrell Williams, and Chad Hugo have worked with such artists as Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg.
