Cultivate It: Pink Ribbons–The Symbol Behind the Cause

By: Tiffani Haynes

Pink ribbons will decorate the country next month. October will mark the 25th annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There will be activities, fundraisers, seminars and more occurring in virtually every city in America to celebrate the special month.

Breast cancer claims many lives each year and the best chances for survival are in early detection, treatment and support. While detection involves self-examination and annual mammograms for women over 40, treatment and support isn’t as simple.

There are support groups and treatment centers around the country that require funding and assistance to provide the vital help that they give to breast cancer patients, survivors and family members.

So this year, vow to get involved in helping to raise awareness and money for research, treatment and a host of other essential things that women really need.

Check out these activities, find one in your area and participate. Your contribution, no matter how small, is monumental. So do it. Someone’s life may depend on it.
