We’ve all seen him publicly making-out with his model girlfriend, Amber Rose, punching the paparazzi, and going on stage at award shows and saying whatever his arrogant ass wants to. Kanye West is best known for making a scene. But it can’t be denied that he has definitely made his mark on the music scene.

Kanye West is considered one of the hottest artists today. No matter how disrespectful he is or how conceited he acts, his albums continue to go platinum and he’s featured on many #1 artists’ songs. Kanye jumped on one of the hottest remixes of the summer Beyonce’s “Ego.” And he has been featured on favorites: Jay-Z’s “Run This Town” also ft. Rihanna, Kid Cudi’s “Make Her Say,” “Knock You Down” by Keri Hilson, and newcomer Drake’s “Forever.” Last year MTV said ‘Ye was the “Hottest MC in the Game.”

Through his lyrics, Kanye continues to exude the fact that he is the best thing since sliced bread. From his song “Amazing,” “I’m a monster, I’m a maven/I know this world is changin’/Never gave in, never gave up/I’m the only thing I’m afraid of/No matter what you’ll never take that from me/My reign is as far as your eyes can see.”

In 2009 alone, Mr. West graced the covers of many magazines including Vibe, Details, and Complex. He even goes shirtless for the new issue of the French mag, Liberation Next, which titles him the “New King of Pop.” Not long after Michael Jackson’s death, rumors circulated that Kanye was indeed calling himself the “New King of Pop.” Later on he denied ever making the statements. Time magazine even featured Kanye on its list of “The Most 100 Influentual People of 2009.” A man wouldn’t receive this type recognition if his swagger wasn’t right.

Controversy seems to be Kanye’s middle name, although others would say it’s “Attention Whore.” We can’t forget the “Bush doesn’t care about Black people” statement that was said at a televised Hurricane Katrina benefit. He definitely showed his ego when he had a temper tantrum backstage of the 2007 VMAs simply because he didn’t feel Britney Spears was worthy of being the opening act. He has been arrested for physical assault and destroying property when he didn’t feel like having the paps takes his picture. And his latest attitude outburst was at this year’s VMAs. During Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, Kanye went on stage and said Beyonce had the best video of all time. This man acts like his shit doesn ’t stink and he isn’t going to be punished for his actions.

Once Kanye has an opinion, he sticks to it and feels that he has the right to voice it, no matter whose space is infringed upon. Now whether or not you like him, you are going to listen and he knows that. It’s true that you have to believe you’re the best if you want to be the best. And let’s be honest, you really can’t knock his hustle, because he isn’t going anywhere. Some feel that ‘Ye needs to take time to have an attitude adjustment, but Kanye is always going to be the artist we hate to love. Some of the hottest veterans in the game, like Jay-Z and Weezy, know they’re the best and don’t have to say it. Are you really the best if you have to keep reminding us? Kanye, you are as good as you think you are… too bad you aren’t as good as you could be.
