Off the Runway: Natural Beauty v. Makeup Maven

A huge part of fashion, clothes aside, is hair and makeup. Each one adds to an ensemble and truly takes your clothes from an outfit to a look. Yet, makeup seems to be the most debated of the two.

There is a split among women about the importance and need for makeup. While I’m a firm believer a woman needs makeup everyday, some rarely ever wear makeup, including for special occasions.

Yet, the biggest issue seems to arise because of the idea that makeup is a cover up for something. This idea is totally false. While some do use makeup to hide blemishes, dark circles, etc., most don’t.

Makeup should be an enhancement. It should never truly “makeup” your beauty, but merely enrich it. Everyone wants to be considered a natural beauty, but makeup or not, we’re all natural beauties.

So if makeup isn’t your thing and you don’t want to get into the habit of applying a full face of makeup each day, try working with this 3-minute routine.

maclipglossThere are 3 things a girl should always wear: eye liner, mascara, and lip gloss. Simple enough right? You already wear lip gloss daily so why not add the liner and mascara. But if you’re against even that much makeup, try just mascara and lip gloss. You’ll definitely notice a difference.

It takes 3 minutes, if that, to apply these 3 things. For first time users, a pencil eye liner will work easier and it takes practice to work your way into the steady hand needed for liquid. But here’s a trick for the liquid. Apply it. If you mess up, don’t use a wash cloth or scrub it off, just take a q-tip, wet the end, and run it along your eye to achieve your look.

For daytime, go with a thinner, lighter line. For nighttime, play it up. The more liner and mascara, the more dramatic the eye looks. Makeup is truly all about the eye. You don’t need foundation, concealer, blush and all that other stuff. Just eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss.

So, when it’s all said and done. Each and every woman is a natural beauty in her own way. Whether you chose to take your beauty to the next level is purely up to you.

Makeup boosts your beauty, not take away from it.

  1. Go head girl!!! U betta school these girlies…makeup is essential! Especially eye liner. A little goes a loooong way!

    Nice job.

  2. I’m so glad you said makeup is not about covering up but enhancing our natural beauty. One’s makeup should never be so severe that when its not on people either cannot recognize you or you look dead to the world. While we do not require a full face everyday, as you stated mascara and lip gloss are a great pick me up! And it does not require the most expensive products out there. Makeup should be fun and accentuate not the camouflage our beauty!
