Activist and Reverend Al Sharpton has taken to the media to advocate for a new cause, his ex-wife and daughter’s innocence. Both were arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental administration after a traffic violation lead to a verbal altercation.
Sharpton’s daughter, Dominique Sharpton, 23, ran a red light while cruising in Harlem on Saturday. After being pulled over she called her mother, Kathy Jordan, who came to the scene.
Dominique insisted she was only driving around the slow-moving unmarked police car when she was pulled over. When Jordan arrived she demanded to know why the ticket had been given. After the verbal exchange escalated, Dominique and Jordan were arrested and soon released.
Sharpton has publicized to the media and on Twitter about his outrage concerning the incident. Here’s what he tweeted about his family’s arrest:
“I cannot imagine how two unarmed women with no record, could be taken in cuffs from a traffic dispute with NO personal or property damage involved. Well, this is what we deal with everyday. We will never accept unfairness.”
The New York Daily News broke the story on Sunday and the situation has not yet been resolved. Check back for more Sharpton family drama.
