In the Limelight: Sesame Street Celebrates 40 Years

By: Tiffani Haynes

The famed children’s television show celebrates 40 years of educating the kiddies tomorrow. On November 10, 1969, the show will have reached 40 years of airtime. The show started as an experimental season to see if children could learn by watching television.

I know I remember watching and learning from Sesame Street. It was such an original show during it’s early beginnings. Even with its competing children’s shows like Dora the Explorer, Spongebob, and all of the sort, none can compare to Sesame Street. It was the originator. From the television show to books and clothing, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert and the rest of the gang have withstood the test of time.

So, Happy Birthday, Sesame Street! 🙂
