When seven-year-old Lamya Cammon wouldn’t stop playing with her braids in class, the first-grader got the surprise of her little life: Her teacher cut off a braid.
The teacher, whose name has yet to be revealed, called Cammon over to her desk and told her she was going to give her some candy, instead she cut off the girl’s braid and threw it in the trash.
Cammon told Milwaukee’s News 12 that the teacher then asked her, “Now what you gonna go home and say to your momma?” Cammon responded. “‘That you cut off my hair.”
Cammon speaks with News 12 about the ordeal.
The school wouldn’t issue a statement about the specifics of the case but offered an apology instead. The teacher also apologized to Cammon’s mother, Helen Cunningham, saying she was frustrated. The District Attorney decided not to press charges and instead fined the teacher $175 for disorderly conduct.
Seems like the teacher is in the wrong profession. Time for a switcharoo.
