Over 650,000 signatures have been collected by the Tax and Regulate Initiative. Only 434,000 were needed for the vote to legalize marijuana to be on the November 2010 ballot. According to NBC Bay Area, it would legalize the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana for adults that are 21 and older. And people would be able to plant mary jane gardens up to 25 square feet in size. Before the lists of signatures can be brought to the California Secretary of State, election officials from each county have to count the signatures and make sure they are valid.
