Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Chris Henry has died from injuries he suffered in an accident on Wednesday.
The twenty-six year old suffered head injuries after falling from the back of a pick-up truck while arguing with his fiancée, Loleini Tonga. Henry remained on life support until he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.
Police detectives in the Charlotte, North Carolina area where the incident took place reported that a “domestic dispute” took place between Henry and Tonga. According to officials, Henry jumped into the bed of Tonga’s truck and then fell into the street nearly a half mile from their Charlotte home. When paramedics arrived, police found Henry with severe head trauma.
Henry had not played with the Bengals since Nov. 8th when he broke his left forearm during a game against the Baltimore Ravens. He underwent surgery and was placed on the teams’ season-ending reserve injured reserve. A spokesman for the Bengals said that Charlotte is home to his fiancée’s parents and he chose to spend most of his time there.
Henry leaves behind his fiancée, and three children: 3-year old Seini, 2-year old Chris Jr. and 10-month old DeMarcus.
