After an 6.1 magnitude aftershock to the devastating earthquake hit Haiti this morning even more damage has been done to the fragile country.
Just eight days after the earthquake, an aftershock struck the small Caribbean island 35 miles outside of its capital, Port-au-Prince. According to the Associated Press, over 1.5 million people have been displaced since the quake and become homeless. The aftershock sent those living in tents and sleeping on the streets scrambling to safety after damaged buildings began to crumble.
People and countries from all over the world have pledged their time and money to help save the people of Haiti. Yet, only time will tell exactly how many lives will be lost, how much money will be needed and how long and challenging the road to recovery will be.
SMG is praying for the people of Haiti.
