  • in 1783, hostilities ceased in the Revolutionary War
  • in 1892, the very  first basketball game was played in Massachusetts
  • in 1966, Stacey Dash was born
  • in 1981, Iran released 52 Americans that had been held hostage for 444 days
  • in 2009, President-Elect Barack Obama became the first African-American U.S. president.
