America’s favorite talk show diva, Oprah Winfrey, is headed off in yet another entertainment venture–creating her own reality tv show.
Winfrey will be launching her own network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) next January and the reality show will be among the first of the network’s line up. Since Winfrey has binding contract agreements that restrict her from filming other shows she’s decided to bring the other shows to her. The new reality show will be a behind-the-scenes look into Oprah’s last season of The Oprah Winfrey Show. The show will document Winfrey as she ends her show in its 25th season.
According to the New York Times, the Winfrey’s OWN network also has four other shows lined up for its premiere: Kid-napped, a show about work-driven parents and children who plan interventions for them; Miracle Detectives, a show about two people (a believer and a skeptic) who go out to investigate what seem to be miracles; Search, a show that follows Pam Slaton as she reunites long-lost family members and friends and Sentenced, a show that chronicles the lives of women in an Indiana correctional facility.
Lady O has her hands in all the pots. She’s gone from the Oprah Winfrey Show to the O Magazine to her own XM/Sirius station to Harpo Studios to now owning her own network, with plenty of other ventures in between.
They say everything that glitters isn’t gold, for Winfrey–it’s platinum.
