1999: At the 41st Grammy Awards, Lauryn Hill made history with a record 10 nominations and 5 wins for her debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.  She was the first female recording artist to receive that many in one night.  Everyone remembers this song…

1998: Elton John knighted. 

1991: U.S. and allies begin a ground war assault on Iraqi troops.  The War on Iraq began long before George W. entered office.
