Currens$y “Pilot Talk”
If you think you don’t know who Curren$y is, I almost guarantee you do. This New Orleans based artist burst onto the Hip-Hop scene as part of Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint where he released this classic HU student center banger.
His time under Weezy was short lived however and he moved on to take the underground scene by storm. He’s flooded the mixtape market with free downloads before releasing his debut album “This Aint’ No Mixtape.” Since then he’s hooked up with Dame Dash for the second installment into his official discography which allegedly hits the net today after a March 23rd push back.
You’ll more than likely have to search online to find it but it might be worth it…Curren$y’s Pilot Talk “allegedly” drops today.
Erykah Badu “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh”
Erkyah Badu made a stellar PR movie dropping the video (and her clothes) for “Window Seat.” The mother of three from Jay Electronica, Andre 3000 and D.O.C. is releasing her new album today which should promise to be filled with the classic Baduism fans have grown to know and love.
The Washington Post did a review on it and described it saying,
“There’s something unhurried and aloof about “Return of the Ankh,” but 39-year-old Badu still sings with a magnetism that compels us to follow her to and fro….”
If you missed it…shame on you.
Check out NewAmerykah getting racy in her controversial video for “Window Seat.”
Usher “Raymond v.s Raymond”
Usher’s new album drops today and I have a gut feeling that today wasn’t the best release date for the new project. Usher’s gotten buzz around his singles “Hey Daddy” and “Lil Freak” but will it be substantial enough to drive sales for today’s release?
In my opinion, NO.
Ursh probably should’ve waited till about May to generate more buzz and drop a few more singles but, what do I know?
According to SMG’s own Sarah J, it might be worth the buy.
She gives it 3 out of 5 stars and gave Usher his props on it saying,
“This album takes more than one listen as it grows with each spin, and there is some great lyrical content hidden in several of the tracks.”
Just in time for today’s release Usher dropped a new video, “OMG” featuring Will.I.Am of the Blackeyed Peas.
Not sure what’s missing here but Usher’s gotta come harder if he wants to keep up with the person currently in R&B’s top spot, Trey Songz.
