We knew that Tiger wouldn’t be able to stay away from the golf course for too long.

On Tuesday, Woods announced that he would make his return to golf at the place where he won his first major:  The Masters.

“The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,” Woods said in a statement. “After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.”

Rumors have been circulating about his return since the four-time Masters champ gave a press conference to apologize for his extramarital affairs.  Woods has not competed in a tournament since November 15th when he won the Australian Masters.  It was just 12 days later that he would crash his SUV into a tree outside of his Florida residence; bringing light to his adulterous behavior and alleged sex addiction.

Woods pointed out to the press that while he does plan to compete in the Masters, he will still be undergoing treatment for his infidelity.  He was in a Mississippi clinic from Dec. 31 until Feb. 11, then checked into an Arizona clinic for a week of family counseling.

Woods became the youngest golfer to don a green jacket at the Masters tournament when he was 21 years old back in 1997; he broke the scoring record that year with a 12-shot victory.

With Tiger’s return, he maintains his world No. 1 ranking and will probably bring the highest rankings to date to the tournament when it airs on ESPN during the week and CBS Sports over the weekend.

The Masters begins April 8th.
